How to get to TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan from Istanbul

By car

Golcuk is roughly two hours east of Istanbul by road in normal traffic, and longer during the festival. The coastal road to the shipyard is heavily congested on the busiest days, usually the weekend.

By festival shuttle

Past editions ran free shuttle buses from collection points in Kocaeli and Istanbul. Routes are set for each edition and published on the official site.

Fast fact
There is no direct rail connection to the shipyard. Plan on a car or the festival shuttle.

Is TEKNOFEST free?

Yes. Entry has been free at every edition, including Mavi Vatan 2026. Registration through the official site is required and costs nothing.

Travel and accommodation are the costs. Hotels in Kocaeli, Izmit and Golcuk fill during the festival week, so many visitors from Istanbul drive out and back in a day.

Who is TEKNOFEST for?

  • Families and students, especially for the competition finals, which are aimed at school and university teams
  • Aviation enthusiasts and photographers, for the flying displays
  • Anyone travelling in Kocaeli during the festival, who should expect busy roads and full hotels

The programme runs in daylight and has no nightlife element.
